Southern Georgian Bay home sales up in September

Residential sales activity recorded through the MLS® System of the Southern Georgian Bay Real Estate Association numbered 92 units in September 2013. This was an increase of 17 per cent compared to the same month last year.

“Demand picked up noticeably in September,” said Gray Watters, President of the Southern Georgian Bay Real Estate Association. “The September sales figure was actually the best we’ve seen in the region since 2009.”

The average price of homes sold in September 2013 was $265,849, up three per cent from September 2012.

The total value of home sales in September 2013 was $24.5 million, up 20 per cent from the same month a year earlier. The total value of all types of property sales was $25.6 million in September, a 15 per cent decrease from the same time a year earlier.

There were 8.8 months of inventory at the end of September 2013, down from 10.7 months at the end of September 2012 and below the long-term average for this time of the year. The number of months of inventory is the number of months it would take to sell current inventories at the current rate of sales activity.
