SPRING CLEANING YOUR HOME CHECKLIST

Spring has officially arrived in the Southern Georgian Bay area, and we couldn’t be happier!
The warm temperatures are reminding us it’s time to start your home’s spring clean. Doing a deep clean each spring not only promotes physical and mental wellness but also contributes to the fresh-start feeling the spring season brings.
We’ve compiled room by room checklist to help make your spring cleaning less of a chore.

KITCHEN:

  • Clean out and wipe down cabinets with soap and water
  • Wipe down the fronts of the cabinets
  • Dust cabinet tops and light fixtures
  • Clear off and disinfect countertops
  • Deep clean the microwave and rangehood
  • Empty the refrigerator and freezer, toss expired goods, wipe drawers and shelves
  • Clean the oven and stovetop
  • Sweep and mop the floors and wash any rugs
  • Wipe down table and chairs, clean chair cushions
  • Dust sideboard and wash tableware

BATHROOM:

  • Empty and clean all drawers and cabinets
  • Dispose of any expired grooming products Disinfect the counters and sink
  • Deep clean the tub and shower
  • Scrub any grout, repair cracked caulking
  • Clean the exterior and the interior of the toilet
  • Dust light fixtures and vents
  • Wash fabric shower curtains, window dressings, and bath mats
  • Sweep and mop the floors and wash the baseboards

LIVING ROOM & FAMILY ROOM:

  • Dust bookcases, coffee tables, side tables, wall hangings, and electronics
  • Remove any clutter from the space, donate or recycle
  • Wash curtains, throw pillows and blankets
  • Vacuum upholstered furniture and spot clean any stains
  • Sort and clean any children’s toys donate ones no longer being enjoyed
  • Move sofas and armchairs to clean under them
  • Sweep and mop or vacuum the floors and wash the baseboards

BEDROOMS:

  • Wash all bedding and window dressings
  • Dust light fixtures, ceiling fans, and wall hangings
  • Clean lampshades with a lint roller
  • Wipe down dressers and nightstand surfaces, clean out drawers
  • Clean the mattress using the upholstery attachment of your vacuum
  • Sweep and mop or vacuum the floors and wash the baseboards
  • Remove any clutter from the space, donate or recycle
  • Sort and clean any children's toys donate ones no longer being enjoyed

CLOSETS:

  • Wash all bedding and window dressings
  • Sort through clothing and footwear, donate anything no longer worn
  • Wipe down shelving and clean the floors
  • Dust light fixtures
  • Organize clothing by season

HOME OFFICE:

  • Sort and file paperwork, shred and recycle what is no longer needed
  • Dust and wipe down all electronics
  • Wash desk surfaces
  • Clean under furniture
  • Wash window dressings and any other washable fabrics
  • Organize office supplies and replace old ones
