5 TIPS TO SELL YOUR HOME THIS SPRING


Spring has officially sprung, and you may find yourself ready to sell your home, but before you list we have some tips to help your property sell quickly, for top dollar.

DE-CLUTTER AND DE-PERSONALIZE

Take time to purge what you are no longer using, and ask yourself ‘Will I want this in my new home?’ if not, it could be time to pass it along for someone else to enjoy. Removing excess furniture, electronics, and textiles can help clear up valuable space in your home and help give potential buyers a feeling of more space. While sorting through what to keep or donate, pack up some personal items such as photos, seasonal clothing, and clear countertops and furniture surfaces as much as possible.

CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN

Spring is a great time to do a deep clean on your home regardless if you are selling. Not only is it good for your overall health, but a freshly cleaned home will also provide a more positive and inviting atmosphere for buyers to fall in love with.

STAGE THE FURNITURE

Less is more! Reduce the amount of furniture to create more open, walkable spaces; you don’t want buyers having to squeeze into a space or feel like they cannot enter a room because of how the furniture is placed. Arrange rooms to reflect what they are or could be, this will help buyers imagine their own furniture there; you may not need that guest bedroom, but staging additional rooms as a bedroom lets buyers see the room as additional space for a growing family.

CURB APPEAL

Many potential buyers will check out pictures of your home online, or drive by the property before booking a showing. You want to make sure the front of your home looks as good as possible and will set the tone for what buyers can expect at a showing. Create a good first impression by taking time to clean up the yard from winter, sweep the entranceway, and if the temperatures are warm enough, add a pop of colour with seasonal flowers.

HIRE A LOCAL REALTOR

When selling your home, it's important to hire a local real estate agent who works with a team and has experience selling in the current market type. When hiring an agent, find someone who will put your needs first, has a team of agents and administrators backing them, and has a strong marketing plan to get the word out about your property!
