STAGING YOUR FOYER

Real Estate Tips - Staging your Foyer

Have you struggled to stage your home’s front foyer? For many homeowners, it’s a high-traffic, small space. We’ve come up with some ideas on how to stage your foyer to be more than coats and shoes, and truly welcome guests into your home.

Get Organized!
The foyer of a home is a busy place that can become cluttered quickly. Start by removing any coats and footwear not being used, donate what you don’t wear anymore, and put off-season items in storage elsewhere.
Once you have pared down to the essentials, purchase organizational items such as cubbies, baskets, shelves, and hooks. Some families have individual organizers for every family member, but the goal should be to create a home for everything.

Multifunctional Furniture
Beautiful console tables and benches can not only add personality to the space but provide much-needed storage. Look for benches that have cubby space for baskets to tuck away in, or open up to hold larger items. Console tables should have drawers for smaller items such as keys or mail, and space below for beautiful storage boxes. Console tables also provide a place for a simple display of photos or a floral arrangement.

Make it Light and Bright!
Choose your paint colour, lighting, and accessories carefully! Often these spaces are small and can be dark. Choose lighter neutral colours, such as light grey or beige. Brighter shades can also work depending on your space.
Invest in great lighting! A beautiful overhead fixture is great, but it’s also nice to have a secondary light source such as a table lamp or wall sconces that will provide softer light and a welcoming atmosphere.

Accessorize Accordingly
There is not a lot of space in a foyer for lots of trinkets, but select useful items such as a carpet runner or doormat that will help to soften and define the space. Place a mirror over your console table or bench, this will reflect light and help a small space feel larger. Add hooks to provide a place for keys, coats, or hats.
